![]() Crier TriviaAlthough basically they seem to be the same, there is a difference between a "meet and greet" and a competition, although you might not readily see it if you are there as an observer. The first is a demonstration of Town Crying, whereas the second is a scored event, with judges determining the recipients of awards for the best job overall. And the best Town Crier is not the one that shouts the loudest. There are a number of aspects that are rated, such as comportment, cry content, delivery, and use of the attention-getting device. Points are deducted for going over the word count (or under) and adding or subtracting from the cry as it is being read. |
